How to tackle the project

From past experiences in projects I seem to work better when I break things into small parts also, I tend to work quite slowly (which could be a good and bad thing) but I work faster when I have project milestones. Project milestones are when a task is completed, it signifies achievement in the project.

For example, if you have to make a game within a month (game a month), but within that month you have different deadlines for each part of the project in order to make the process more streamlined, this is a project milestone.

What have I been doing

From the last couple of months during the lockdown, I have been experimenting with what works for me when it comes to project/ time management.

Experiment

During the summer I did about 1 to 2 hours of deep focus work, and I seemed to have down quite a lot.

Also as well I have used the Pomodoro technique to utilise my productivity when there a time where my energy was quite low. The Pomodoro technique is when you do 25-minute work 5-minute break, typically I do about 4 sessions which take about 2 hours.

Essential experience

  • When people are looking at the artwork what experience do I want them to have?

  • What elements are essential to the experience

  • How can my artwork capture the essence?

Idea generation/ research

After asking the question of the essential experience, this should naturally lead to the generation of ideas

How to generate ideas?

  • Look at everything (cinema, books, games, mood boards etc).

  • Perhaps do some primary research into the idea.

  • Whilst researching different mediums sketch the research so you can a visual material of the concept that you've researched.

Make/ prototype

  • After researching the chosen idea, create, create, CREATE.

  • Break down the concept art props and how it could function.
