Figure drawing

As I mentioned in my self-improvement blog that I wanted to improve more on my figure drawing, before the pandemic I went to a class in Winchester well we had figure drawing club where someone will come in we’ll be drawing their figures and they would change their pose change every 10 to 20 minutes. And I would like to practise that more, in order for me to get better at figure drawing I have to find see the shapes in figures in short space of time. When it comes to character design I seem to have a creative block because I have a fixed image in my head about what face I would want and after I drew that out I can't think of anything else, so I think me being exposed to more figure drawing would help me with that.

I started off by searching on YouTube on what sort of figure drawing lessons are there but I thought it would be a bit more helpful for me if I try to draw multiple figures in a very short amount of time, to be more specific I’m looking for figure drawing videos with the a timer on and I found this video on new Masters Academy.

This channel will have models posing in a form and the students are supposed to draw that figure, but with these figures you have to draw in a specific time so at the start of the video you would have to draw the figure under a minute and this I think improves the observation skills of artists, and as the video progresses the timer increases so at the start of the video it was under a minute and a plus at the end of the video it is 10 minutes.

so yeah this is my first attempt drawing the figures, as you can see it’s not very detailed because I was drawing in short amount of time, to be more specific the drawings that appeared to have no face or a lot more stick figured are the drawings that I had to do under a minute and the figures that have a bit more or the actual figure of the model is the one that took the longes.

This is my second attempt at the figure drawing as you can see that this figure has a bit more hair then that would a sign of my figure drawing improving slightly. As I was able to draw the figure in the much smaller time frame and still include the hair and in this particular figure drawing. I share a little bit of shading where the model was posing and the shadow touching her skin.

This is my third attempt at the figure drawing as you can see in this one there's a lot more figures in this one, I believe I used 2 videos hence why there's so many figures, the figures that have more of a stick figure over drawings that have to complete under a minute and the figures that have a little bit more the body thickness to it are the ones that took the longest, so those are the ones that took 10 minutes It seems like as if every time I do figure drawing my technique and the speed of me picking up the figure a lot quicker.

This is my 4th and final attempt of the figure drawing as I can see in this particular drawing typically as same as the as the last ones, I have stick figures under stick figures are the ones that took under a minute and why find particularly nice but this one is that I have the complete figure which is the one that took 10 minutes and I had enough time to shade in some of the muscle the muscle tone.

so I think when it comes to figure drawing I think I definitely have improved at observing the figure and where to start because at first I found it very difficult looking at a figure and knowing where I start drawing the body, then I start overthinking and overthinking it and it will just become a huge problem where I just can't draw the figure. But now I've been able to pick up the basic shape of the figure first I can put the details out later on, due to my role as the environmental artist for the team me doing figure drawing wouldn't really help cause environments have nothing to do with figure drawing but it was a little goal that I wanted to set up for myself this semester.
